Summer in the city!

Summer is just around the corner and everyone knows what that means: internships!  For me, it means getting an actual job since I will be graduating in May, a scary thought!  Summer interning in a big city was easily one of the best memories of my life thus far.  If you have the opportunity and the means I wholeheartedly suggest to get out there and experience work and semi-adult life.  It’s easy to forget we live in a college bubble and normal adults wake up and go to work every day!

The hardest change I thought was to morph my wardrobe to work appropriate.  Thankfully, in the fashion industry there is a bit of leeway.  Just use the rule of thumb of incorporating a neutral into your wilder outfits.  Remember there is a time for after 5 attire!

This season’s loose pants are a great option for an outfit you can wear to the office and to happy hour after work.  Put a denim shirt or a men’s white button down on top and hair in a polished bun.

Love the contrast of the light pants and dark top.

You can still rock that gorgeous colored denim, just balance it with a neutral on top for the office.  Keep your blouse simple and classic.

Perfect outfit for strolling the streets!

Love the neon trend?  Incorporate it in your daily look with accessories.  Use your shoes, belt, and bracelets as a tool to show off your penchant for fashion!

Demure enough for work but still pack a neon punch.

Last but not least, make sure you explore the city you’re in for the summer!  Make friends with your favorite barista and find your local bar!  Let the city influence your style and play with new looks!

Being an intern for the first time can be scary but I promise it will be one of the things you remember most clearly about college.  You learn a lot about yourself and how you handle responsibility with no real payment or pat on the back.  It will forever make you appreciate a paycheck and the interns that hopefully will one day work for you!  Cherish the friends and coworkers you meet, summer is a special time to share!

Best of luck and happy job hunting!
